I traveled all of the way from California to see Dr. Allen. I’ve had multiple surgeries and have seen many ENTs before, and all to no luck in being able to diagnose what I was feeling and having surgeries that ultimately lead me back to the same issues. It wasn’t until I saw Dr Allen, I was able to send him my CT scans all the way from California and he diagnosed me with having mucosal circulation and large inferior turbinates. My surgery was a bilateral maxillary antrostomy and a bilateral inferior turbinoplasty. He said it was a fairly common procedure and wasn’t sure why the ENTs I’ve seen in the past had never addressed it. Dr Allen’s diagnostic was 100% correct and for the first time in my life, I can breathe easy, and I do not wake up with massive headaches every morning. It fixed a huge quality of life issue I was having for the past 15 years and I am so grateful of the outcome. Everyone on Dr Allen’s team was great, Crystal, the 2 nurses and the anesthesiologists all made the surgery very easy for me, especially since I was traveling from far away. There is one thing I’ve learned over the years seeing so many ENTs, and that is to absolutely do not take shortcuts choosing the right surgeon. There is 99% of ents out there who will sell you the highest profit margin procedure and then there is the 1% like Dr Allen, who are experts in the craft of rhinology. Learning how your surgeon operates is also important because it can be night and day for long term outcomes. Dr Allen is not a regular ent you will see down the street, he is a very unique and conscientious individual who is going to try his best to permanently address your nasal problems. I highly recommend visiting him if you are serious about your health.

I’ve had allergy/sinus issues my whole life. I was that kid that got sent home from school for being “sick.” Later, in my early 20’s, there was an incident that resulted in a slightly visible crooked septum. I first went to Dr. Allen in 2018 after I’d been in Houston for about 4 years. Houston is notorious for being a place where if you hadn’t previously had allergies, you discover you do. My twice annual sinus infections became more frequent. They became more painful and harder to treat. I had never been to an ENT but I developed an infection that had survived multiple rounds of antibiotics. Dr. Allen showed me my scan and when I realized what he was pointing at, he said he could fix it. The bones I didn’t know I had in my nose had deformed and bulged to close off the sinus passages so the fluid from the infection was trapped. The surgery changed my life. It wasn’t a case of managing inflammation. It was a structural defect that prevented any drainage. I went from constantly sick, tired, drained of any drive to do anything back to the person I knew I was after the surgery. Fast forward a few years after everything had been ok, I started having some issues and Dr. Allen had moved back into my area. I knew something was different in my sinuses. I went back to Dr. Allen and he found a recirculation issue and he fixed it. Again, night and day, before and after. It doesn’t matter if you think you are doomed to a life of sinus pain and chronic infections. He can figure it out. He knows his stuff and I don’t trust easily. He’s earned my trust. And Crystal is the best assistant ever! Very attentive and ready to answer all your questions.
